You will need this licence if you intend to operate a domestic or export processing premises, like a boning room or small goods manufacturing, that is not part of a retail butcher's shop. If you are granted an export processing licence, you can operate a domestic processing premises but not vice versa.
Meat from the following species can be processed: cattle, buffalo, camels, donkeys, mules, hinnies, pigs, horses, goats, deer, sheep, crocodiles, domestic fowl, etc.
You will need to comply with the Commonwealth Export Control Act 1982, if you intend on processing meat for the export market. Export establishment with Department of Agriculture and Food is a prerequisite for exporters. Persons intending to export should contact the agency.
