Environment Protection Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you are involved in the operation of waste related services. Waste related services which require this licence include the operation of premises which dispose waste by burial (landfill), collecting, transporting or treating waste, operation of treatment waste premises or premises which process hydrocarbons.

The purpose of this approval is to manage any potential environment impacts arising from the construction, installation and operation of waste related premises.

Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NTEPA) will undertake an environmental impact assessment in relation to your licence application. This assessment is to ensure that any potential actions do not have an unacceptable or significant impact on the environment.

Environment protection approvals and licences and waste discharge licences take an average of six to eight weeks to assess and administer and may take up to three months depending on the complexity of the proposed activity.
