Fishing Tour Operator Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will be required to apply for a fishing tour operator licence if you intend to commercial guided fishing tours in the Northern Territory.  Each vessel or craft operating simultaneously requires a licence. Each skipper must be an approved operator and be appointed against a licence to conduct tours.

Recreational fishing regulations apply to people on a guided fishing tour. None of their catch can be sold or bartered.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply for a fishing tour operator licence, you must have:

  • a senior first aid certificate
  • $10 million minimum third party liability insurance
  • appropriate Marine qualifications
  • appropriate vessel survey certification
  • a NT drivers licence with an ???H?? endorsement
  • a NT Tourist Vehicle registration certificate
  • accreditation issued or approved by the NT Motor Vehicle Registry.

$815 annually.

Additional information

Fishing tour operators must submit a logbook return for each commercial guided fishing trip they conduct.
