This service is available to provide for the management of the harvesting and subsequent sale of the various fish species collected from harvest fisheries.

What Support is Provided?

Fisheries Queensland provides a comprehensive service on certain aspects of Queensland's harvest fisheries. Advice can include:

  • licensing procedures and regulatory compliance to existing and prospective licence holders;
  • size and bag limits of fish and catches/collections.

Eligibility requirements

Most of the individual fish stocks covered by the harvest fisheries groups are regarded as fully developed and/or exhibiting excess fishing capacity. A limited entry policy is in place for all commercial harvesting of those stocks.

Authorities for collection of adult eels are not transferable.

Application process

Follow-up on reports on other fishery types available in 12 to 18 months.

Additional information

Limited entry requirements apply to all of these developed fishery resources, within the exception of the Adult Eel Fishery which has been managed as a closed fishery (closed to new applicants) since 1999.
