The Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC) assists employers and employees, service providers and the general community to understand their rights and obligations under Queensland anti-discrimination laws and to resolve complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, vilification, victimisation and public interest disclosure reprisals which are lodged under Queensland anti-discrimination law.
The QHRC resolves discrimination, sexual harassment, victimisation and vilification complaints covered by the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (the Act) through conciliation. Complaints that cannot be resolved at a conciliation conference may be referred for a public hearing to decide whether there has been a breach of the Anti-Discrimination Act. The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission will deal with complaints that are work-related and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal will deal with all other complaints.
