You require this approval to conduct a shooting gallery or game (eg skirmish).

Eligibility requirements


You must:

  • have attained the age of 18 years
  • not be disqualified by the Weapons Act 1990 from holding a licence
  • be a fit and proper person with specific reference to mental state, misuse of drugs, firearm offences involving violence or threatened violence or subject to an order under the Domestic Violence Act 1989
  • possess adequate knowledge of safety procedures relating to the use of the firearms to be used at the gallery (Weapons Act safety course)
  • provide details of a registered business name if you hold one.

Your local authority may have related requirements which must be met.

Duration

This approval remains in effect for one to five years.

Application process

You can obtain this approval by submitting a completed "Application for Approval to Conduct a Shooting Gallery" - Form 15C.

You can obtain copies of these forms from the website or from a Queensland Police station. Please contact Weapons Licensing Branch for further information.

You can lodge your application at a Queensland Police station.

You must submit information, details or drawings of the proposed shooting gallery with the application.

You must submit a completed Safety Course Certificate (Weapons Act safety course) and/or hold a licence for the category of weapon to be used at the Gallery.

The approval must list all representatives approved to conduct a shooting gallery.

You must specify, on the approval, any person supervising the use of any firearm by persons reporting to the gallery. These Additional Representatives - submit a completed Application for Additional Representative - Shooting Gallery (Form 15CA)

  • in the case of a shooting gallery, have a current Statement of Attainment in Queensland;
  • in the case of a paintball/skirmish gallery have a current Queensland Firearms Licence.

You may also require council/local authority approval.

May require inspection of gallery by police.

This approval cannot be transferred.
