Approval to operate a recognised astronomical organisation - Queensland

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to operate as a recognised astronomical organisation (RAO). Once recognised, authorised officers for the astronomical organisation can apply to possess restricted laser pointers. Restricted laser pointers have an output of greater than 1 milliwatt but less than 20 milliwatts.

You can possess or acquire a restricted laser pointers if you have a reasonable excuse, including:

  • being a member of a RAO
  • being personally supervised by a member of a RAO
  • taking part in activities associated with an RAO.
