Approval to operate a shooting gallery - Queensland


You will require this approval if you intend to conduct a shooting gallery. Shooting galleries consist of areas where live ammunition is used and the firearm is mounted so that it's barrel must remain within the confines of the gallery, except in the case of paintball.

The types of shooting galleries that may be permitted by this approval are:

  • paint pellet shooting galleries
  • fixed indoor or outdoor shooting galleries
  • mobile shooting galleries.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • have attained the age of 18 years
  • be a fit and proper person with specific reference to mental state, misuse of drugs and firearm offences involving violence or threatened violence
  • have completed the safety training course within the preceding 12 months
  • provide all details relevant to the type of shooting gallery you are applying for.
