Approved person scheme - Queensland

Description

Approved person accreditation is required for the certification of vehicle modifications.

To become an approved person you must have the appropriate qualifications, experience and equipment as required by the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Eligibility requirements

To become an AP, you must:

  • have the required formal qualifications relevant to the individual modification code/s you are applying for
  • have the required experience, equipment and technical knowledge
  • if you do not hold formal tradesman's qualifications you must provide a trade level qualification from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

 

Duration

Approved person accreditation is issued for up to 3 years. You are responsible for ensuring that your accreditation is current at all times whilst undertaking the role of an AP.

Criminal History Check

Miscellaneous -

All new applicants are required to pay a fee to one of our customer service centres (CSC) or a Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) office and the department will carry out a Police criminal history check (CHC) for the person.  (A Police Certificate submitted by the applicant is not acceptable).

Application process

To apply to become an AP you must:

  • complete an AP application form F1855
  • supply a certified enlarged copy of your current driver licence or suitable evidence of identity (refer to Evidence of Identity Information Sheet F4362)
  • supply a copy of your receipt for the payment of the CHC fee.
  • be able to verify at least five (5) years relevant industry experience within the last ten (10) in manufacture and/or modifications for light vehicles and/or motorcycles.  This 5 year period may be a continuous 5 year period or made up of a number of periods within the last 10 years.  The application process can take up to 28 days to process from the date the application and all relevant information is received.

Only codes that have met full application requirements will be considered at time of application.  Codes that have not met full application requirements at time of application will require an additional code application.

After lodging your application, if further information or documents are required you will be contacted by the scheme administrator.

Transfer

The approved person accreditation is not transferable.
