Astronomical and Distance Measurements Information - Queensland

Description

This service is provided to assist clients by providing access to astronomical information and satisfying the department responsibilities pertaining to Sections 65 and 66 of the Evidence Act 1977 1989.

Information is available on times of:

  • sunrise/set times, twilights and day lengths
  • moonrise/set
  • planets rise/set
  • phases of the moon
  • special phenomenon such as blue moons, solstices, equinoxes and eclipses.

Documents are available on:

  • Astronomical Chart

Note: An astronomical chart shows the position of the stars at any time of the year the chart is to be used at night.

Court certificates (satisfying Sections 65 and 66 of the Evidence Act) are available:

  • natural light (including sunrise/set, twilights, moonrise/set, moon illumination)
  • sun position
  • distance (between locations).

Expert witness (if required) for court proceeding as a follow up to a court certificate issuing is also available.
