Eligibility requirements

Before submitting your application you should have an understanding of the obligations detailed in Chapter 4 - Part 2 of the Health (Drugs & Poisons) Regulations 1996.


This permit has a variable duration, depending on the specific requirement. Your permit cannot exceed two years.

You can obtain this permit by completing the Cyanide permit application form and submitting it to the agency at the address specified.

The agency will conduct searches to ascertain your acceptability as an applicant for this permit. The agency may also conduct an inspection of the premises to assess its suitability for cyanide use.


This permit cannot be transferred.

Additional information

If you propose to store cyanide, especially in large quantities in residential areas, you should contact the local council prior to applying for a permit. This is to establish whether any zoning restrictions apply. You will need to provide proof that zoning requirements are being or will be complied with when submitting your application.
