You need this approval to establish or operate an entertainment venue. An entertainment venue includes a building, room, garden or other place that is open to the public for entertainment. It does not include a shop or licensed premises.
You need to check that zoning is appropriate prior to submitting your approval application.
Council must review the establishment of entertainment venues to:
- ensure that entertainment venues comply with appropriate standards of health and safety
- protect the amenity of areas in which entertainment venues are situated
- regulate the use of public entertainment venues, as well as the activities conducted there.
Examples of entertainment venues are:
- cinema
- museum
- ten-pin bowling centre
- zoo
- indoor sports centre
- music or performance venue
- amusement arcade
- water park.
