The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) provides fire hazard and prevention advice to assist business to determine the proper fire prevention measures and practices are applied to and to ensure fire safety installations in buildings are maintained to the standard to which they were installed.
The QFES assists organisations through survey inspections and written reports on installations required.
The survey inspections detail any faults that need to be rectified under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990 and Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008.
The report will relate to compliance with regulatory requirements and/or recommended measures to enhance fire safety and prevention within the organisation.
These would include such areas as:
- changes to structure
- additional fire fighting equipment
- changes in work practices
- staff training in the use of fire extinguishers
- evacuation procedures
- emergency lighting
- positioning and type of fire extinguishers and/or equipment
- occupancy warnings
- exits and fire escapes.
