Ten core competencies required by the Boards of Examiners need to be addressed, at the level needed for the role of 1st Class Mine Manager.
RIIRIS601A (or equivalent): Establish and maintain the risk management system
RIIMCU601A: Establish and maintain the spontaneous combustion management plan
RIIUND601A: Establish and maintain the ventilation management system
RIIMCU602A: Establish and maintain the gas management system
RIIMCU606A: Establish and maintain the mining method and strata management systems
RIIRAI603A: Establish and maintain mine transport and production equipment
RIIRAI604A: Establish and maintain mine services and infrastructure systems
RIIERR602A: Establish and maintain underground coal mine emergency preparedness and response systems
RIIBLA302A: Conduct shotfiring operations in underground coal mines, OR
RIIBLA202B: Support underground shotfiring operations
RIIMCU605A: Establish and maintain the inrust management plan
You must also have:
current HLTFA311A Apply First Aid including HLTCPR211A Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
current Instrument Gas Testing Document and Statutory Gas Exam Results.
A minimum of at least three (3) years practical underground coal mining experience including:
at least twelve (12) months direct involvement in underground face mining, gas drainage and ventilation, outbye work and hazard management projects; and
at least nine (9) months in a supervisory role.
All person seeking to have their interstate statutory certificates of competency registered in Queensland must first undertake and pass an examination in such of the Queensland mining safety and health law as is applicable to their certificate of competency and must hold relevant risk management competencies.
