Horse riding schools, trail riding establishments and horse riding establishments Code of Practice - Queensland

A Code of Practice (The Code) has been developed to help riding businesses to devise safe systems of work to minimise risks. The Code outlines standards of staff training, horse environment and welfare, tack and other equipment, safety when riding, manual tasks, and other safety standards. The Code also contains a self audit checklist to identify areas that require attention.

All workplaces must take reasonable actions to prevent death, injury and illness under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (the WHS Act) and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (the WHS Regulation).

The Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 (Qld) and the Animal Care and Protection Regulation 2012 promotes the responsible care and use of animals. It places a legal duty of care on people in charge of animals to meet those animals' needs in an appropriate way.
