Why the Support is Provided?

This service is provided to encourage Queensland's economic growth and assist rural industries to adopt appropriate practices to sustain the natural resource base.

What Support is Provided?

The Department provides education and extension support to assist landholders to adopt appropriate land and water management practices. It can assist with access to natural resource data and information concerning best practice strategies.

Landholders are encouraged to use private sector providers particularly where analysis of feasibility, design and construction of specific projects are concerned.

The Department provides assistance in the preparation of property level plans such as land and water management plans for farmers or groups of farmers. The Department provides support to rural industry bodies through the Rural Water Use Efficiency Initiative to encourage sustainable development and operation of water supplies.

This service is free. A regulatory fee applies to an application for a land and water management plan approval under the Water Act 2000.
