Motor salesperson (wrecker) registration - Queensland

Description

You must obtain registration to work as a salesperson for a motor dealer (wrecker). You must meet all criteria before we can issue a registration certificate

Note: you may only obtain a registration certificate if you work as an employee.  If you are a contractor, you must have a full licence

Authorised activities

On behalf of a motor dealer (wrecker), you may:

  • obtain used motor vehicles, in parts or whole, to sell as parts
  • sell acquired used motor vehicles as parts.

You may not:

  • sell complete vehicles
  • auction vehicles or other goods unless you hold a chattel auctioneer licence
  • operate trust accounts
  • be in charge of a place of business.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements


You must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a suitable person
  • be an eligible person.

Duration

This will remain in effect for 12 months or 3 years. You will be issued with a renewal notice annually or every 3 years approximately 6 weeks before the expiry date.

Application process

Submit a Form 3-3: Application for a motor salesperson registration certificate.

Your application must be accompanied by:

  • an application fee;
  • a registration issue fee;
  • a criminal history check fee;
  • a certified copy of either birth certificate, birth certificate extract, passport, certificate of
  • australian Citizenship or drivers licence. Proof of identity can be certified by a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner for Declarations, barrister/solicitor or notary public;
  • a certificate of completion of modules.


Note: The registration certificate application fee and registration certificate renewal application fee are not refundable.

Transfer process

You cannot transfer this registration.

Additional information

Applicants must undergo a criminal history check to confirm their suitability. The criminal history check applies to each person for whom a date and place of birth are requested on the application form. The fee applies to all applications and renewal notices.
