Petroleum Exploration - Call for Tender for an Authority to Prospect - Queensland


Geological Survey of Queensland provides this service to ensure growth in exploration and development of the petroleum resources in the State.

Geological Survey of Queensland coordinates the calls for tender for an authority to prospect for petroleum. Promotion of the call for tender is undertaken through various media and industry publications, the Queensland Government Mining Journal and overseas and local industry conferences. Geological and geophysical data is available to enable potential tenders to undertake their own assessment of the petroleum potential of the areas gazetted.

Eligibility requirements

Specific eligibility criteria apply when granting of an authority to prospect under the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004.


Fees for applying for an authority to prospect in response to a call for tender are listed in the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Regulation 2004, Schedule 9, Part 1.
