Description

The purpose of the Act is to regulate the production, storage, supply and use of gases, to set standards and ensure safe handling.

The Act covers the technical and safety requirements for fuel gases.

The Regulation sets out further details related to these gases and provides for the licensing and authorisations to cover gas work.

Compliance Mechanisms and Penalties:

Petroleum and Gas Inspectors have powers to monitor and enforce compliance with the Act and compliance standards may be established by regulation.

Licensed/authorised operatives may have licences / authorisations suspended or cancelled and fines may be imposed for offences against the Act.

Review or Appeal Mechanisms:

An appeal may be made to QCAT regarding licensing matters. Application may be made to the Chief Inspector to review the decision.

Court imposed fines are subject to normal avenues of appeal through the court system.
