Description

You require this accreditation to instruct learner motor cycle riders for reward using the competency based training and assessment scheme, Q-Ride.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You must demonstrate that you can meet and deliver the requirements of the Department of Transport and Main Roads Q-Ride Registered Service Provider Standards (there are eight standards including the Consistent Assessment Process), and provide a training and assessment program that complies with the Competency Standards for a learner undertaking Q-Ride training and assessment.

Rider trainers must have the appropriate accreditation from the Department of Transport and Main Roads to conduct Q-Ride training and assessment. A Q-Ride registered service provider may also be an accredited rider trainer and/or employ accredited rider trainer/s.

Duration

A registered service provider may be registered for a period of one year. The period is decided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and the successful applicant will be advised at the time of approval.

Application process

You can obtain this accreditation by:

  • completing a "Registered Service Provider (Q-Ride) Registration Application"
  • applying and paying for a criminal history check at a Department of Transport and Main Roads customer service centre. You must submit a copy of the receipt with your application
  • providing a submission detailing how you will meet and deliver requirements of the Department of Transport and Main Roads Q-Ride Registered Service Provider Standards, including the Consistent Assessment Process. This includes advising the department how you will:
  1. supply a code of practice for providing Q-Ride training. Your employees, contractors and/or agents involved in providing Q-Ride training must abide by this code
  2. provide a management system with procedures and records that are planned, documented, implemented and continuously improved to demonstrate that you are effectively providing Q-Ride training and assessment
  3. provide and maintain sufficient equipment to deliver Q-Ride training safely and equitably
  4. ensure that all Q-Ride training and assessment is undertaken on off-road and on-road areas suitable to meet the Q-Ride Competency Standards
  5. ensure that all your employees, sub-contractors and/or agents must be trained and accredited to provide Q-Ride training;have procedures and practices for determining the eligibility of learners and ensuring Q-Ride training and assessment is only provided to eligible learners
  6. have appropriate procedures and practices for accredited rider trainers to follow to ensure Q-Ride training and assessment is appropriately planned, provided and reviewed.
  • providing a training program that complies with the competency standards for a learner undertaking Q-Ride training
  • submitting this documentation to the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Fees apply for annual audits conducted every 12 months on the anniversary of your registration date.

Transfer

The registration of a Q-Ride registered service provider is not able to be assigned to or transferred.
