Queensland Government Agent Program - Queensland


The Queensland Government Agent Program (QGAP) is provided to improve access to Government services and information for residents in rural and remote communities.

Queensland Government agents perform services on behalf of a number of State Government Departments, Commonwealth Government Departments and commercial agencies. Examples include:

Department of Transport and Main Roads:

  • All matters relating to vehicle and boat registrations
  • Renew Drivers Licences (some sites)
  • Receive payments of Traffic Fines.

Department of Housing and Public Works:

Housing -

  • Liaise with the service agency and clients on rental matters such as rent assessment, arrears, neighbourhood conflict, and rental bond/rent subsidy issues
  • In conjunction with the service agency, arrange maintenance of rental properties
  • Attend property settlements on behalf of the service agency
  • Conduct property inspections to ensure tenancy and compliance with the terms and conditions of the tenancy agreement.

Department of Justice and Attorney General:

Births Deaths Marriages -

  • Supply forms and receive applications for short extracts and certified copies under the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act.

Office of Fair Trading -

  • Provide information regarding the Property Agents and Motor Dealers Act, the Travel Agents Act, the Credit Act and all other acts administered by the Department.

On behalf of Department of Justice and Attorney General come QGAPs can also:

  • Supply forms under the Magistrates Courts Rules
  • Supply forms under the Small Claims Tribunal Regulations
  • Receipt Fines - Court
  • Give instructions for and signing of wills
  • Provide information on the Invasion of Privacy Act and the Dividing Fences Act
State Penalties Enforcement Registry
  • Receipt payments for SPER Fines and Payment plans.

Public Trustee of Queensland -

  • Take instructions for Wills, forwarding such instructions to the Public Trust Office, receive formally engrossed Wills and attend on clients to facilitate execution of the Will, and return duly executed Wills to the Public Trust Office
  • Take reports for deceased estates, receipt documents and valuables in connection therewith and refer them to the Public Trust Office
  • Attend to miscellaneous matters associated with the administration of deceased estates
  • Collect rent or other periodical payments on behalf of the Public Trust Office.

Suncorp Metway:

  • Issue CTP insurance certificates

Commonwealth Government:

  • Access tax information Online
  • Registration, information and support - eg ABN
  • Order products and information

Information and referral service for:

  • Department of Veterans Affairs
