Register as a Chinese medicine practitioner - Queensland

Description

You need to be registered to practise as a Chinese medicine practitioner. The following are Chinese medicine practitioner protected titles:

  • Chinese medicine practitioner
  • Chinese herbal dispenser
  • Chinese herbal medicine practitioner
  • oriental medicine practitioner
  • acupuncturist.

You can only use the above protected titles if you have the relevant qualifications and expertise.

The types of activities considered a part of Chinese medicine may be updated or changed from time to time.

Registration as a Chinese medicine practitioner is presently divided into three divisions:

  • Chinese herbal dispensing
  • Chinese herbal medicine
  • acupuncture.

You must make an additional application and pay additional fees to register for more than one division.

There are four different types of registration offered to practitioners:

  • general
  • limited
  • non-practising
  • student.

To be eligible for registration you must:

  • hold an approved qualification
  • meet the requirements stated in the registration standards.
