Registration of Surveying Associate - Queensland


This registration is required for a person to operate as a certain type of surveyor.

It is up to the applicant to obtain a copy of the Surveyors Act 2003.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • complete a two year university degree or
  • overseas qualifications assessment by Newcastle Innovations (if applicable) or
  • demonstrate your competency against the Surveying Associate Competency Assessment (SACA).


This registration remains in effect until 31 December each year and is renewed in the period from October to December.

Application process

Submit a completed "Application for Registration as a Surveying Associate" (Form 1A) to the Board.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • Copies of academic transcript, diplomas and other relevant certificates or
  • Complete Surveying Associate Competency Assessment (SACA) for overseas assessment or work experience and
  • two references dated within the last 12 months to good fame and character.

An individual who intends to practice as a surveying associate will be required to pay an application fee plus an annual registration fee.

Approval by the Chief Examiner and Education Convenor is required before the registration is granted.

Transfer process

This registration cannot be transferred.
