Safe Food Production Queensland - Queensland

Description

Support is provided to ensure the production of primary produce is carried out in a way that:

  • makes the primary produce fit for human or animal consumption
  • maintains food quality

To provide for food safety measures for the production of primary produce consistent with other State laws relating to food safety.

Safe Food Production Queensland provides advice by a variety of media including telephone, internet (www.safefood.qld.gov.au) and publications on a wide range of issues relevant to the meat, dairy and egg industries in Queensland, with a focus on food safety.

Safe Food Production Queensland will also provide such information for a wide range of other food industries (e.g. seafood and horticulture) as the organisation develops food safety schemes for these industries over the coming years.

Since January 2003, Food Safety Schemes have been implemented for meat, dairy produce, seafood, eggs and egg products.
