Service contract for taxi administration - Queensland

Description

You require this contract to operate as a taxi service when a gazette notice has been made under section 66 of the Act declaring that the administration of taxi services must be performed in the taxi service area declared.

Eligibility requirements


You are required to forward a letter advising of the interest in operating a taxi booking service to the Executive Director (Taxis, PT Standards and Regional Operations). You will then receive additional information from the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Duration

This contract will remain in effect for 3 years plus a 2 year extension.

Transfer process

The transfer must be approved by the Chief Executive of the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Both the seller and the purchaser must write to the Department of Transport and Main Roads setting out details of the proposed sale and any operational changes.

The Chief Executive may request certain information to ensure the purchaser has the capability and finance to undertake the contract.

Application process

Due to changes to the personalised transport industry in Queensland, which were introduced on 5 September 2016, Government will not be releasing any new service contracts before 2018.

Additional information

A gazette notice will be declared outlining when the administration of taxi services must be performed under a service contract in the taxi service area. The gazette notices are generally made for cities or towns with populations of more than 10,000.
