This service is provided to interpret existing land resource information for use by landholders in property management and catchment planning; and for local authorities for regional and strategic planning and for the protection of good quality agricultural land.
The department holds an extensive range of information on Queensland Soils and Land Resources reports, maps and data for topics such as:-
- land resources
- land management manuals
- land systems
- land capability
- agricultural land suitability.
For areas where mapping is completed, printed reports with maps and/or database information in disk form is available. Spatial data is available under licence, digital copies of reports and maps accompany the data.
The Land and Environmental Assessment Unit provides reports, maps and data according to the availability of mapped information on sub-regions, districts or shires for use in property management planning, catchment planning or environmental impact studies.
The unit provides land resource information and guidelines for long-term management strategies and describes the quality of the land in the chosen area in terms of soils, geology, landform, climate and vegetation and its development and degradation potential.
