This service is provided by the department to satisfy the information obligations of the Survey and Mapping Infrastructure Act 2003.
Details can be obtained on survey control (permanent) marks including:
- location (description and sketches)
- horizontal co-ordinates
- vertical information
- cadastral boundary connections
This information assists businesses in the land information industry such as engineers, surveyors and cartographers, by providing permanent reference points for height and horizontal control on which to base surveys and aerial photography. There is also a current guideline for all cadastral (land) surveys to connect to two survey control marks.
