This certificate is required for appointment as an Ventilation officer certificate of competency (Open Cut Coal)

This means to carry out the responsibilities and duties prescribed under a regulation in one or more coal mine excavations.

Duration

This certificate remains in effect perpetually unless suspended or cancelled by the Board or an Industrial Magistrate.

Fees

Application process

You can obtain the certificate by submitting a completed current application form to the Board. 

The following documents must be submitted with the application:

  • certified copy of identification (birth certificate, driver's licence or passport)
  • certified proof of academic qualifications
  • verification of employers of prescribed practical experience (verified by employers)
  • where qualifications were granted outside Australia, copy of the certificate and academic record (J.P. certified) is required
  • any additional documents outline in the application form.

Transfer process

This certificate cannot be transferred to another person, but will be recognised in other Australian states.

Additional information

Written examinations are held at various sites around Queensland on a monthly basis; oral examinations are held quarterly (February, May, August, November).
