Appeals against Local Government and Private Building Certifier Decisions - Queensland

Description

Building and Development Committees are established under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 and hear appeals about building and plumbing related matters against Local Government and Private Certifier decisions.

The Department of Housing and Public Works provides prompt, easy, accessible and non-court based decisions dealing with a range of building and plumbing related matters.

The Department provides advice on the building appeal process to Local Governments, Private Building Certifiers, the public and the building industry.  The Department is also the receiving point for the appeals and it arranges appointments of general referees to Committees.

Important Information:

A person may appeal to the Building and Development Committee however, the legislation requires the completion of `Form 10 - Application for appeal/declaration' with accompanying fee and must be lodged within the prescribed timeframe.
