Description

The Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 refers to the model asbestos management code and the asbestos removal code which have been finalised for implementation under the Intergovernmental Agreement for Regulatory and Operational Reform in Occupational Health and Safety.

How to Manage and Control Asbestos in the Workplace Code of Practice 2011

This model code sets out steps to be taken to eliminate or otherwise minimise the risks of exposure to airborne asbestos fibres.

How to Safely Remove Asbestos Code of Practice 2011

This model code sets out steps to be taken to manage the safe removal of asbestos.

These codes are given legal standing in Queensland's workplace health and safety framework.  A code of practice provides practical guidance for people who have work health and safety duties about how to achieve the standards required under the Act, and about effective ways to identify and manage risks.
