Commercial fishing boat licence - Queensland

Description

You require this licence if you are taking fish for a commercial purpose.

Operations are limited to the fishery/fisheries noted for the licence in the department's register including net, line, crabbing, pearl shell, etc.

You must ensure that the licence/eligibility has the correct fishery symbol/s for the intended fishing activities.

Boats may be replaced subject to some restrictions. You should contact Fisheries Queensland prior to any changes for more information on the current legislative and policy requirements. You can change boats by submitting a Commercial fishing boat Licence amendment request to Fisheries Queensland.

Contact should be made with the Department of Transport and Main Roads regarding vessel survey requirements under the Marine Safety Act.

Application process

You can obtain this licence by submitting a completed Boat licence application to Fisheries Queensland.

Transfer process

You can transfer this licence either permanently or temporarily for a specified period.

Potential investors should be made aware that investment warnings are current for some commercial fisheries. People should contact Fisheries Queensland for more information on current investment warnings.

Any third parties registered as having an interest in an authority, must grant approval to registering a transfer beforehand.

You can transfer the licence with or without the boat by submitting a completed Register transfer of commercial fishing boat licence application with relevant fees to Fisheries Queensland.

Please note that regional offices do not accept completed applications with fees. However they do have the range of application forms for distribution.
