Under what circumstances is it required ?

You will require this concession to allow increased mass limits for logging vehicles due to the difficulty in estimating the exact weight of logs in the forest and positioning those logs on the vehicle so as to spread the load appropriately.

What are the prerequisites to obtaining this authority?

You are required to have:

  • on board scales fitted to the vehicle. Where cypress and plantation logs are weighed as part of delivery procedures, in line with Forest Service requirements, the requirement to install on board scales will be waived.
  • consent from the local council to operate the concessional masses on their roads.

Duration

This concession will remain in force for 12 months.

How Do I Obtain It?

You can apply for this concession by completing a "Log Timber Concession Application/Renewal Form" (Form F1131) and submitting it to the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

You can also obtain copies of the application form from the Department of Transport and Main Roads by phoning (07) 3066 5508 or visiting any Department of Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre.

You may transport logs from forest direct to port for export or to a sawmill.
