Cotton Industry Extension Services - Queensland

Description

To ensure that technical and management systems are developed for cotton which will be more profitable and sustainable.

To ensure that new or prospective growers are aware of the industry and ramifications of becoming a cotton grower, especially because of the intensive pesticide program involved in its production to manage insect resistance to the Bollgard gene technology and insecticides.

A development and extension program which delivers research and development information and extension services related to irrigated cotton and grain and dryland cotton agronomy and is available to potential or existing businesses.

The extension officers are available in the first instance but clients may need to be referred to the agribusiness group of the department or a suitable consultant.
