Electricity Act 1994 - Queensland

Description

The Act sets a regulatory framework for electricity industry participants that promotes efficient, economical and environmentally sound electricity supply and use and establishes a competitive electricity market in line with national reforms.

The Act provides for a system of authorisations of entities which may be involved in electricity generation, transmission, distribution and retail (sale).

It sets out the conditions under which these entities operate and provides a framework for a competitive electricity market.
