Entertainment venues (Sunshine Coast) - Queensland

Description

Approval for entertainment venues is required under council's planning scheme. The following entertainment venues require approval from council:

There is no local law licensing requirements for entertainment venues in the Caloundra and Maroochy areas, however a development approval may be required.

  • Caloundra area - all venues proposing to provide indoor entertainment require development approval under Councils Caloundra City Plan 2004. This use requires a Material Change of Use Code or Impact Assessment depending on the precinct on which the proposed venue is located refer to Caloundra City Plan 2004.   • Maroochy area Any place that is open to the public for entertainment, including recreation or amusement, regardless of whether or not a fee is charged for admission is managed through the former Maroochy Shire Council Planning Scheme.

Eligibility Requirements

Prior to submitting your application you should ensure the site has relevant development approval to prevent the application being delayed. Council has development approval information available online.

Council will contact you should additional information be required to process your application. You will be notified when a decision has been made regarding your application.

Council will inspect the venue on a regular basis.

Council licenses entertainment venues to:

  • ensure that entertainment venues comply with appropriate standards of health and safety
  • protect the amenity of areas in which entertainment venues are situated
  • regulate the use of public entertainment venues, as well as the activities conducted there
