You need a permit in order to:

  • breed, board or keep animals on a commercial basis
  • operate fishing parks
  • keep any animals for hire or sale

The number of animals you may keep in a particular area depends on the size of your site.

Keeping of animals must comply with local laws and council's planning scheme.

  • the likely effect on the amenity of the surrounding area
  • the likely effect on the local environment and any possible pollution or other environmental damage
  • other relevant factors to the circumstances of the particular case.
