Land Act 1994 - Queensland


To administer and manage non freehold State land for the benefit of the people of Queensland, having regard to the principles of:

  • sustainable resource use and development
  • evaluation of land based on appraisal of land capability and values
  • allocation of land for appropriate development
  • retention of land for community purposes
  • protection of environmentally and culturally valuable areas
  • consultation with community groups, industry associations and authorities in decision making
  • efficient, open and accountable administration.

The Act provides a basis for:

  • the allocation of land by grant or lease
  • the dedication or closure of roads
  • the reservation of land for community purposes
  • the registration of land interests.
