Description

You need this licence to establish or operate an entertainment venue. An entertainment venue includes a building, room, garden or other place that is open to the public for entertainment. It does not include a shop or licensed premises.

You need to check that zoning is appropriate prior to submitting your licence application.

Application process

You can obtain this licence by completing an Entertainment venue licence application and submitting it to council.

Council may approve a place of public amusement subject to conditions. You may have to:

  • alter the design or layout of the venue
  • restrict the venues operating hours
  • provide specified equipment and measures for public safety
  • provide specified equipment, or take specified measures, to reduce adverse effects of venue activities on the surrounding neighbourhood.

Transfer process

This licence cannot be transferred.

  • ensure that entertainment venues comply with appropriate standards of health and safety
  • protect the amenity of areas in which entertainment venues are situated
