The core objective of the Queensland Government's Local Content Unit is to maximise Queensland's employment and business growth by ensuring full, fair and reasonable opportunities are available for local suppliers to participate in major government procurements.
The Unit provides services to assist local suppliers prepare for tender opportunities through capability training and a range of supply matching activities. The Unit works with the lead government agencies to break down work packages into smaller sized packages allowing more businesses to access tender opportunities.
The unit's purpose is underpinned by the Queensland Industry Participation Policy Act 2011, Queensland Charter for Local Content (the Charter) and government best practice guidelines. The Charter is designed to maximise local content through greater participation of local industry in major Government procurement activities.
