Waste Tracking Certificate - Queensland

Description

An intrastate waste transport certificate is required to transport trackable waste within Queensland. An interstate waste transport certificate is required to transport controlled (trackable) waste into and out of Queensland. An allocated consignment number is required for interstate transfer and this is issued by the environmental agency in the state or territory of waste destination.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Provision of the name and address of the generator, transporter and receiver of the waste; the amount and description of waste; and the expected date of shipment. Requirements are detailed on the Waste Transport Certificates.

Duration

This certificate remains in effect for the duration of the movement of the particular waste load.

Application process

Waste Transport Certificates and Consignment Numbers can be obtained by contacting the agency. Certificates can be obtained by any of the waste handlers from the department's website. Payment is only accepted by credit card or cheque. AMEX/DINER are not accepted. Credit card payment attracts a 0.4% credit card payment fee.

Applicants may also require compliance with the following Legislation:

  • Australian Dangerous Goods Code - 7th Edition (Department of Transport and Main Roads)
  • Licences in accordance with the Environmental Protection Regulation 2008 under the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
  • Environmental Protection Regulation 2008

Transfer

The consignment number cannot be transferred. Certificates are valid for only one waste load - transaction.
