Appointment as a Boat Code Agent - South Australia

Description

You will need this licence to operate a business as a boat code agent. Boat code agents are appointed by the department to:

  • examine vessels for signs that they have been stolen and re-birthed
  • issue and / or verify Hull Identification Numbers (HIN)
  • verify vessel details and provide a written certificate to DIT for recording on a database.

A boat code agent may fix HIN plates personally to a vessel, or employ approved boat code examiners to affix HIN plates.

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a fit and proper person to hold a licence
  • in the case of a body corporate, each director must be a fit and proper person to hold a licence
  • successfully complete the agency boat code training
  • have a National Police Certificate.
