A Certificate of Occupancy is required to be issued by the Approving Authority prior to the occupation of a building of class 2 - 9 on which building work has been carried out. The certificate certifies that advice has been received that the building is suitable for occupation and complies with the Regulations.This certificate is not required in respect of a Class 1a or 10 building under the Building Code.An application must be accompanied by a written statement from the responsible builder that the building work has been carried out in accordance with the relevant approval, together with Form2s (Certificate of Compliance with Essential Safety Provisions) if applicable.
