Certificate of Occupancy - South Australia

Certificates of Occupancy are required for all building classifications except for Class 1A and 10 (Dwellings and associated and buildings).

Regulation 83 of the Development Regulations gives Council's the ability to require various written statements from builder's and installers before issuing a Certificate of Occupancy.

Whilst a Certificate of Occupancy is not required for a Class 1A building, a "Statement of Compliance", as specified in schedule 19A of the Development Act is required to be signed by both the builder and the owner, and submitted to Council prior to occupancy.
