Provisional Building Rules Consent - South Australia

Provisional Building Rules Consent forms part of the development approval process. Persons wishing to undertake building work need to obtain Provisional Building Rules Consent. Building work includes the construction, addition, alteration, demolition or removal of a building. Building work may also include the construction of a fence or wall, and the excavation or filling in relation to a retaining wall. Some minor forms of building work are exempted under Schedule 3 of the Development Regulations 1993. Proposed building work is assessed against the requirements of the Building Code of Australia. The Building Rules generally cover structural issues, fire protection, health, safety, and the amenity of buildings. Persons intending to install a cooling tower should notify the Council's Environmental Health Officer.
