Wildlife Management (Controller) Permit - Venomous Snakes - South Australia

Description

You will need this permit if you want to operate as a wildlife or native pest controller of venomous snakes on an ongoing basis. This permit will enable you to legally catch and release venomous snakes from commercial and residential locations where the animals are causing or may cause environmental damage or a safety risk.

Please consult with the agency to gain authorisation for any ongoing wildlife management and control service for other species.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for this permit.

You must operate in accordance with permit conditions, the legislation, and the Venomous Snake Intervention Policy and Procedures.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You must:

  • submit a report within 14 days of the expiry of your permit
  • maintain public liability insurance to cover any risks associated with activities authorised under the permit
  • hold a first aid certificate for the duration of your permit if you intend to handle dangerous animals, or animals that constitute a biological hazard, under the permit (including snake bite treatment)
  • be vaccinated if you intend to handle dangerous animals, or animals that constitute a biological hazard, under the permit.
