Boat Code Agent - South Australia

Description

A person or body corporate who intends affixing Hull Identification Numbers (HIN) or validating existing HIN and issuing interim Boat Code certificates must be appointed by DPTI.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for Appointment as a Boat Code Agent the applicant must:

  • Pay the appropriate fee for Appointment as a Boat Code Agent;
  • Successfully complete the DPTI training course;
  • Supply a current National Police Certificate for the Boat Code Agent (and any Nominee) every 3 years; and
  • Be at least 18 years of age

A Boat Code Agent???s business should:

  • Already be associated with the marine industry, unless DPTI approves otherwise;
  • Be open to the general public at least five and a half days per week or as agreed by DPTI;
  • Have the necessary tools and equipment, such as punches and engravers, for affixing a Hull Identification Number (HIN) in a specified range of materials;
  • Have access to an area suitable for accommodating a boat trailer while affixing the HIN is completed.

Duration

1 year.

Fees

Appointment as a Boat Code agent $148
Renewal of the term of appointment as Boat Code agent $117.
