Description

A mineral claim enables the holder to prospect and explore within an area in order to ascertain likely minerals.

A lease enables the holder to conduct mining operations, and to remove and sell the minerals in accordance with the lease conditions and the Mining Act. A lease can either be an extractive minerals lease (eg sand, gravel or rubble) or a mineral lease (eg gold, copper or silver).
