Permit to Sell Protected Animals - Tannery and Skin Permit (Class 8) - South Australia

Description

This permit enables the holder to tan, or part pocess and sell the skins of kangaroos, subject to the following conditions:

  • the permit holder may only purchase or receive the skins of kangaroos which were legally taken or obtained in accordance with the National Parks and Wildlife Act, 1972 and Regulations; and
  • the permit holder may only purchase or receive kangaroo skins from interstate if they have been legally acquired under an approved kangaroo management program.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be a resident of South Australia. Applications should be made by either the Public Officer of the company or the Managing Director.

Applicants must have a comprehensive knowledge of the National Parks and Wildlife (Kangaroo Harvesting) Regulations 2003 and the National Parks and Wildlife (Wildlife) Regulations 2001 under the National Parks & Wildlife Act, 1972.

Duration

Permits expire on 30 June; The 1, 3 or 5 year options available if lodged and processed between 1 July and 31 December; The half-year fee is only for new applications lodged on or after 1 January.

Class 8 Permit: half year - $587
Class 8 Permit: full year - $1,065
