Provisional Building Rules Consent - South Australia

Description

Persons wishing to undertake building work need to obtain provisional building rules consent and development approval. Building work includes the construction, demolition or removal of a building and excavations for the construction and demolition or removal of a building. Some minor forms of building work are exempted under Schedule 3 of the Development Regulations 1993. Proposed building work is assessed against the requirements of the Building Rules by the relevant authority or a private certifier. The Building Rules generally cover structural issues, fire protection, health, safety, amenity and access issues. Persons intending to install a cooling tower should notify the Council's Environmental Health Officer.

Once off. The consent is generally valid for 12 months, during which building work must commence. Work must be completed within 3 years.
