You will require this approval if you intend to act as a food safety auditor.
Food safety auditors undertake food safety inspections on behalf of the relevant authorities. As a food safety auditor you can inspect aspects of a food business such as:
- The food, being handled, prepared or served;
- The health and safety practices of the staff involved in the food preparation, handling or serving process; and
- The premises and equipment used in the preparation of food.
If a food business is found to be non-compliant with the food safety requirements, the relevant authority may take appropriate action as a result. A food business is a business, enterprise or activity that involves the handling of food intended for sale or the sale of food (e.g. cafe, restaurant, bakery, market food stall, etc.).
